The new Ford Puma 1.0 MHEV is already a Pumaspeed favourite; early in 2020 we purchased our own development car to get deep into the new software and MHEV power train. A stage 1 file was written after only hours of owning the car and comprehensively tested even during the unfortunate Covid-19 lock down. The lock down was a blessing in disguise for our mapping development as it gave us the time to write many new protocols and huge array of mapping changes to bring to life the most powerful mapping to the new Puma which retains all the standard emission features. After a solid 2020 of road testing and dyno development therefore, we are proud to present the new Puma 1.0 Hybrid Stage 1R remap.
What do we do ?
Quite Simply we book you in for a date and time, we then take from 30-45 mins to connect our programming kit to the car and fully reprogram the vehicle with our upgraded software to produce either Stage 1-150PS or Stage 1R-165PS

What is the power increased to ?
There are 2 power outputs for the new 1.0 Puma engine, 125PS and 155PS. The motors are identical and all Ford have done is change the software and turbo to make the power difference from 125PS to 155PS. A similar techinique has been used for many years on the Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost from 2013 onwards.

We have fully tested and have these results:
The 125PS is just over 165bhp and 285nm which is 40bhp and 10 more bhp more than the nearest competitor
The 155PS is not fully tested as of October 2020 but it will lift power to over 185PS and a similar 280nm as the lower powered 125PS model due to its larger turbocharger.

Power and Torque Explained.
Power is the headline number you will always see written in bold type everywhere to give credibilty to how good a mapping actually is, but this power number is calculated at very high revs… in the region of 6,500rpm in the case of this 1.0 motor, and lets face it, very few of the Puma drivers will ever think about reving the 1.0 engine to 6500 in daily use. Let’s concentrate on an explanation of torque then, to show you how the true drivability of the car will feel.
Power and Torque Explained.Power and Torque Explained.
Power
Torque is the low down pulling power you experience when initially accelerating. The longer the remap holds onto this the better. Typically in the 1.0 Puma this can start as low as 1500 revs, peak at 2900-300 and should hold on as long as the exhuast gas flow from the turbo will allow until approx 4,500rpm.
This is just where you drive the car and where Pumaspeed have concentrated most of the skill and new work with the new Hybrid power train and ECU for the unbeatable MAXD Out Stage 1R mapping.
